Lucknow : At least 41 people were killed in thunderstorm and lightning incidents in several parts of Uttar Pradesh along with heavy rains.
More than 32 were also injured in the incidents in the state on Sunday.
In Prayagraj alone, 14 people lost their lives, while four people got burnt. Four people died in Kaushambi and one in Pratapgarh districts. Five including three women died in Fatehpur and five including a woman in Kanpur dehat died due to lightning. Two each died in Unnao and Ferozabad due to lightning, one each in Aurriya, Hamirpur, Banda, Sonebhadra, Chandauli, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur and Mirzapur.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to lightning in the srate and has asked the concerned district authorities to provide relief to the affected families.
CM has directed to immediately distribute the permissible relief amount to the families of the deceased and condolences have been expressed to the bereaved families. At the same time, instructions have also been given for the treatment of the injured.
