Puri: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Puri and paid obeisance to Lord Shiva. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was received by his grandfather Madhav Mohapatra with a sword as he reached the singha gate of the temple. The Chief Minister along with his family had come to see the Lord. At first, he entered the temple to see the Lord by banging his head on the head of Lord Patitapavan. He was very emotional when he saw the Lord. Later, he visited various deities and offered prayers at various deities inside the temple. On his return from The Sri Mandir, the servitors gave him a picture of the Lord and gave him maha prasad. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he felt very fortunate to have the darshan of the Lord. He said that he was blessed to see the Lord in the month of Kartik. However, he said that he prayed to the Lord for the welfare of all. He said that he has taken steps for a clean, fair, corruption-free governance in Assam. He said strict action has been taken against more than 350 unscrupulous officers in the last three years. On the other hand, Chief Minister’s Kaulik Panda Madhav Mohapatra said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been a devotee of Lord Jagannath since childhood. He used to come to Puri many times in his student life and come to see the Lord. He, however, said he would discuss with the Odisha government how to rebuild the Assam Yatri Niwas in the Sri Mandir Parikrama project, which has been demolished.
