Ask Rail Ministry to expedite proposed Aurangabad-Ahmednagar-Pune railway line project, MLC Chavan urges Maha DyCM

MLC of Marathwada Graduate Constituency, Satish Chavan, on Tuesday asked Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to recommend to the Ministry of Railways to complete the proposed Aurangabad-Ahmednagar-Pune railway line project early. In this regard, he met Pawar at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai today and submitted a memorandum of his demand. In the memorandum, Chavan stated that various railway projects have been announced for Marathwada in last several years, however, many of these projects are still on paper only. In the meantime, a lot of efforts were being made to build the proposed Aurangabad-Ahmednagar-Pune railway line, which is very important for the people, he said. For this proposed railway line, the Railway officials had visited and tested the usefulness of this route, he said. Once completed, the Aurangabad-Ahmednagar-Pune railway project will be important and of great benefit to industrial estates of Waluj, Ranjangaon, Shendra, Supa and Chakan, the MLC said. Chavan pointed out that this railway line would help provide direct connectivity to Auric City, an IT hub in Pune and Aurangabad, through which a large number of employment opportunities would be generated for the youth of Marathwada region. Also, it would boost tourism in Aurangabad district, which is also known as the state capital of tourism, as thousands of tourists, both from within the country and abroad, visit the world famous Ajanta and Ellora caves every year, he said. Therefore, in terms of tourism, if the Aurangabad-Ahmednagar-Pune railway line is built, it will be more convenient for tourists to travel by rail, he noted. Pawar assured Chavan that he would follow up with the Railway Ministry in this regard.
