Asia Cup 2025 likely to be scrapped amid India & Pakistan

New Delhi, : Amid the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, there is no certainty over the future of the Asia Cup 2025 be played in September. As per sources, one of cricket’s premier multi-nation tournaments is under threat of being scrapped.
The Asia Cup 2025 is set to be played in September, with Sri Lanka or the UAE expected to be the venue for the 8-team tournament. According to media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may not be given a green signal to play against Pakistan. Generally, the BCCI sends the India cricket team for any series or tournament after getting permission from the Indian government. One of the reasons why Team India hasn’t toured Pakistan is because the Indian government fears for the safety of the cricketers. In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the relationship between the two nations is at its worst. In such circumstances, it isn’t guaranteed that the Indian government will allow the BCCI to play against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Without a potential India vs Pakistan match, the value of the competition takes a
severe hit. The encounter between the arch-rivals make it extremely lucrative for the
broadcasters. It has been learnt that without the arch-rivals clash, there is no purpose in
organising the Asia Cup.
