Teen Stabs Boy 60 Times, Slits Throat and Dances

New Delhi: An 18-year-old was stabbed multiple times on a Delhi street on Tuesday night by a younger boy who was seen dancing next to the body in extremely disturbing security footage. The motivation for the murder, allegedly, was to steal money to eat biryani. The frenzied killing, allegedly over Rs. 350, took place in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area, police said. CCTV footage showed the teen attacker stabbing the victim and at one point standing over the corpse and dancing. Reports said he stabbed the victim over 60 times. According to the police, the motive behind the murder was robbery. The accused first strangled the victim, rendering him unconscious, before stabbing him multiple times. The two didn’t appear to know each other, the police said. The 16-year-old accused of the killing allegedly robbed the young man, who resisted and was then attacked. CCTV cameras have captured the accused minor dragging a body out onto a narrow alleyway. He is seen stabbing the victim in the neck repeatedly to make sure he was dead. He goes on to kick the head a few times. Then he stands over the lifeless body and begins to dance, the macabre act caught on camera. “On Tuesday, a PCR call was received at around 11.15 pm that a youth, aged around 18 years, was stabbed to death by a minor in a bid to rob him in Janta Mazdoor colony in Welcome area,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey said. “The victim was rushed to a hospital but he was declared dead,” he added. The police tracked down the accused and arrested him. He had allegedly stolen Rs. 350 from the victim, who has not been identified till now. The police are scanning CCTV footage and a forensic team has also visited the spot. The minor who is currently facing murder charges was previously involved in another murder case in 2022, according to police sources. The earlier crime was also motivated by robbery. According to police, the accused is part of a gang of three to four minors who are responsible for a string of violent crimes. During questioning, the accused claimed that he was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the recent murder.
