Abhishek Banerjee’s wife Rujira appears before ED officials

Kolkata, June 23 (Dumanimail) Carrying her child in her arms, Rujira Banerjee, wife of AITC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee (MP), on Thursday appeared before enforcement officials of the Enforcement Directorate in Kolkata in relation to the coal smuggling case in West Bengal, official sources here said.

Rujira was seen emerging from a car with her child on her lap around 11 am and entered the ED office at CGO Complex, Salt Lake, as she was summoned to appear before the investigating officials, probing the money trail of coal smuggling scam across the state.

Rujira was recently questioned by the CBI officials for nearly seven hours at her south Kolkata residence in relation to the same case.

The Supreme Court had ordered that Abhishek Banerjee and his wife should be interrogated in Kolkata and not in Delhi.

A team of ED officials from Delhi arrived in the city to quiz Rujira Banerjee.

Among the ED officials, there were two women officers, who are also in the task of questioning Rujira, sources said.

Meanwhile, the security system at the CGO complex was tightened.
