Kolhapur/Ratnagiri :The official Facebook page of the Ratnagiri Collectorate was hacked and the virtual wrongdoer subsequently posted a message, demanding money from a hospital, informed police on Sunday.
Quoting the complaint lodged by Collector B N Patil, the cops stated that the official page was set up so as to disseminate information related to the government schemes to public.
However, the Facebook page was hacked by unidentified accused while a fake account, namely “Collectorate Ratnagiri”, was created.
Through the mala fide account, the hacker sent friend requests to several government officials and some citizens, cops apprised.
Meanwhile, the Collector has alerted the public to intimate the nearby police station if they receive any communication originating from the account and not respond to the same.
