Boipariguda:- The Forest Department seized two bicycles loaded with Sal timber worth lakhs of rupees in the Ramagiri section of the Gupteswar forest area (Jeypore sub-division) while timber traders were attempting to smuggle the wood at night. Acting on a tip-off received during a night patrol, a team led by Forest Officer Ranger Chhabindra Randhari intercepted the bicycles and confiscated the timber. Upon spotting the forest officials from a distance, the traders abandoned the bicycles and fled. The Gupteswar Range Officer stated that they have been keeping a close watch on the timber mafia since assuming charge. Consequently, 12 Sal logs and two bicycles were seized; a case has been registered, and the department is conducting further investigations. Personnel present during the raid included Ranger Chhabindra Randhari, Foresters Ravindra Hantal and Forest guard Sipra Das, Soumya Ranjan Subundhu, and support staff members Kartik Dandasena, Ramesh Pujari, Padmanabh Jani, Bhuvan Bagdaria, Mohan Odia, Rahlatari Pradhani, Bhaskar Daloi, Ramchandra Dalpati, and other forest department employees.
