Orissa High Court rejects IAS officer Bishnupad Sethi’s anticipatory bail application

Cuttack : Trouble mounted for IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi as Orissa High Court today rejected his anticipatory bail application, he had filed in connection with the Odisha Bridge and Roof Corporation bribery case. Sethi had applied for bail after the High Court lifted his interim protection June 20. The court had issued an interim stay on any coercive action by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against him, his wife and daughter, but it lifted the interim protection promoting him to apply for anticipatory bail. The High Court had directed the investigating agency to file the case diary on July 15 while the final hearing of the case was held on July 25 (Friday). Before delivering
the judgment in the case, the court today rejected the IAS officer’s bail plea. It is to be noted here that Bishnupada Sethi came under the CBI scanner after Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd group general manager Chanchal Mukherjee, who was arrested while taking Rs 10 lakh bribe on December 8 in Bhubaneswar from a real estate company promising them work orders, took his name while being interrogated by the central agency.
