Minor girl’s death: Inmates asked to vacate hostel

Cuttack, : The authorities of the government girl’s hostel have now asked the inmates to vacate the hostel
after a girl killed herself on Thursday. This came after Cuttack Collector directed the Headmistress to vacate the hostel. The deceased girl identified as Shubhasmita of Dhenkanal was preparing for her Matriculation examination here but killed herself under mysterious circumstances. A complaint has been lodged against the hostel warden in the Lalbag police station in Cuttack. On the other hand, the
school authorities have alleged that even after retirement, the warden is handling the works related to the hostel.There are many issues in the hostel that need to be fixed. This year admissions in the hostel were stopped as the issues could not be resolved. The school authorities also alleged that the hostel was
running under private supervision and no government official was in-charge of the hostel. As many as 51 inmates were asked to empty the hostel. Following the death of the girl an agitation was seen in the
hostel.Her family members have said that some foul play is involved and that she was murdered. They also lodged a formal complaint at Lalbag police station following which police registered a case and
started an investigation.
