Bhubaneswar, : Audiences will no longer witness obscene dance performance during the famous Bhubaneswar Khandagari Jatra shows as a ban on such dace forms has been imposed.The decision to ban the obscene dance performances at the Khandagari Jatra shows was taken during a meeting of the Jatra troupe committee and police administration today. The meeting, however, allowed dance performances with modesty. With this, it is said that some of the Jatra artistes like Rani Priyadarshini, Nisha Moharana and Bhagyashree Sahoo, popularly known as ‘Sahoo Bhauja’ will no longer get the
opportunity to perform obscene dance, for which they are famous for. Earlier, people of different walks of life especially the intellectuals and social activists had demanded the State government to come up with some special rules for stopping vulgarity in jatra shows claiming that such nudity impacts the society such a negative manner that the family members cannot see such shows together.It is to be noted here that Khandagiri Jatra shows 2025 will begin from Magha Saptami and will continue till February 17. A total of 12 Jatra troupes will display their shows during this period of time.
