Thane / Palghar : As many as 33 villages on the banks of Tansa river in Thane and Palghar districts have been put on alert following heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the dam, the district authorities said.
The concerned revenue and police officials have been intimated about the possible flooding of the river due to the overflow of the dam water.
The villages which have been put under alert include 18 from Thane district and 15 from Palghar.
The villages in the talukas of Shahapur, Bhiwandi, Wada and Vasai have been put on alert.
At present, the water level of Tansa dam is 125.55 MTHD while the overflow level is 128.63 MTHD.
Due to heavy rainfall in the region, the dam will start overflowing anytime soon and thus flooding the river, the authorities added.
