Srinagar : Two encounters were going on in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said here on Wednesday.
The first encounter broke out between the terrorists and forces at Pombai village of the district.
They said the gunfight erupted at Pombai village, when joint teams of forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO), following an input about the presence of terrorists.
“A contact has been established with the hiding terrorists. We believe 2-3 terrorists are trapped,” a police officer in south Kashmir said, adding that the operation was underway.
Another gunfight broke out when joint teams were conducting a CASO at Gopalpora Kulgam. Police sources said that two militants were believed to be trapped.
