Baghdad, Oct 27 (UNI) At least 11 civilians were killed and several injured in an attack by ISIS on a village in eastern Iraq.
Citing country’s security forces, AlJazeera reported that the attack happened on Tuesday in a village of al-Hawasha, near the town of Muqdadiya in Diyala province wherein “defenceless civilians” were targeted.
Meanwhile, Iraqi President Barham Salih condemned the incident in a tweet and said it was a “despicable attempt to destabilise” Iraq.
Earlier, Xinhua quoted Alaa al-Saadi from the provincial police as saying that the attack took place in the evening when ISIS terrorists opened fire, from sniper rifles, on a group of civilians.
He further said Iraqi security forces rushed to the scene and launched a search campaign in the area to look for the attackers.
In past several months, ISIS terrorists have intensified their attacks on Iraqi security forces in the provinces, which were earlier controlled by the terrorists.
