Workers salary raised in Arcelor Mittal Steel in Paradip

Paradip: The Arcelor Mittal Nippon Company in Paradip has announced a daily increase in the wages of its contractual employees, according to a press release from the factory’s union. At a press conference held at the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Workers Union Office on Thursday. General Secretary Advocate Amrit Das informed that the daily wages of the workers working at the ESSAR Steel and now the Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel Factory were increased. The Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel Workers ‘Union, which is affiliated with the Indian Workers’ Union, has been demanding from two long years to provide benefits such as wage increase, weekly leave, EPF & ESI schemes, necessary safety equipments etc. The money has been increased by an agreement between the workers’ Union and Company authority. As a result, workers will be paid a Rs. 100 increase on their daily wages i.e Rs. 3000 increase on whole month. They will also get EPF, ESI benefits and wages on holidays. Some people, on the other hand, have been trading unions and closing down factory gates without notice, taking anti-workers activities for their vested interest, alleged the union ,which will not fairly acceptable told the Secretary of the union. The press conference was attended by General Secretary Amrit Das along with Union working President Akshay Kumar Kar, Vice President Chitrasen Roy, Tophan Swain and Pramod Kumar Jena.
