12 Hours Work not Acceptable to India Labour

Bhubaneswar: The suggestion of some Industrial to work 12 hours in a day 72 hours in work is not at all acceptable in view of WHO/ILO report. 2 million people die from work related case each year said Dr. R.C Khuntia, Ex-MP National Vice President and President of Indian National Building Construction Forest and Wood Workers Federation while addressed the National Workers Committee of INBCWWF at Hisari in Hariyana. The Working Committee strongly opposed the statement of leading IT Industry head Sri Krishna Murti Ji to increase the working hour to 12 hours in day and strongly condemned the decision of some state Govt including Hariyana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujrat to increase the working hours to 12 hours in a day and demanded to withdraw the order immediately. The working committee also strongly condemned the Hariyan, Punjab, Delhi and Odisha state Governments for giving the construction welfare board assistance to their political cadres and demanded to clear pending cases, education subsidy, marriages subsidy and death companssion immediately. The Working Committee meeting resolved for demanding the Central Government must review ILO Code 187 and 155 and made rule there under to make Health and Safety as a matter of right of workers and amend the constitution of India to give Health Safety Social Security for all and accordingly adequate budget provision to be allocated. It is demanded that all 8.75 crores identified construction workers to immediately enrolled in registration of construction workers Welfare Board and rules to be framed that all construction workers must have the welfare Board card before the construction workers engaged. It is also resolved to extend social security schemes to forest and wood workers. The meeting resolved to go for national wide joint struggle as per the programme of pleasant and worker joint coordination committee from 26th to 29th November. Sj.
