Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will set up district science centres in all districts, informed Science & Technology Department Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Friday. The State Government has also plans to set up one planetarium each in six districts, the Minister said. As per the proposal of district officials, there is a plan to establish district science centres in 10 districts – Ganj am, Nayaga rh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Bhadrak, Puri, Balangir, Sundargarh, and Jagatsinghpur in the first phase, the Minister informed in a written reply to the question of BJP MLA Ganeshram Singkhuntia. In the second phase, priority will be given to those districts where suitable land has been identified and the land lease taken over by the Science & Technology Department for setting up district science centres. Applications have been submitted to the Tehsildars of the identified areas in the districts of Malkangiri, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Angul and Gajapati for
the transfer of land documents, he stated. One each planetarium will be set up in Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balangir, Sundargarh and Rayagada, he added.
