Majority of Covid cases in Cuttack, Puri & Khordha

Bhubaneswar, July 12: With the daily Covid-19 cases breaching the 500 mark for the last 4 days in a row, public health director Dr. Niranjan Mishra today said that as per the Test Positivity Report (TPR), most of the cases that are being recorded in Odisha are from Cuttack, Puri, and Khordha. The state has around 3000 active cases till Monday, of which only 31 patients, which is nearly 1 percent of the total active c a s e s, a r e c u rr e n t l y hospitalized and 25 of them are in the ICU. It clearly indicates that though the infection is increasing, the hospitalization rate is low, said Mishra. Most of the infected persons are without symptoms. Only aged and people with comorbidities are being hospitalized, Mishra added. If we look at the Covidm scenario in the country, the infection is not spreading in every state. And in the states w h e r e t h e c a s e s a r e increasing, most of the cases are being reported from urban areas as the pandemic restrictions are not clamped, Mishra further added. Mishra went on to add that, a s m o st p e vaccinated, they are likely to be serious if infected and it is difficult to estimate when the state will hit the peak in terms of infections.
