Colombo, June 23 (Dumanimail) An Indian delegation led by External Affairs Secretary Vinay Kwatra arrived here on Thursday to discuss possible further economic aid to beleaguered Sri Lanka.
Kwatra was accompanied by three other senior government officials. India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Gopal Bagle, greeted the delegation at the airport.
The delegation is scheduled to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe among others, media reports said.
The officials will return to New Delhi on Thursday evening.
Sri Lanka is battling its worst economic crisis since independence, triggering widespread shortages of food, fuel and medicines for want of foreign exchange to import them.
