Heavy rainfall to Continue in Odisha till Sunday

Bhubaneswar: The Well Marked Low Pressure Area (LPA) over south Coastal Odisha & neighbourhood wi t h t h e a ss o c i a t e d c y c l o n i c c ir c u l a ti o n extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwe stwa rds with height persists, the Indian M e t e o r o l o g i c a l Department said. On t h e o t h e r h a n d , Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha triggering light to moderate rain / thundershower at most places and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts. “Monsoon trough now passes through Bikaner, Kota, Ra is e n , Ma l a n j k h a n d , Raipur, center of Well Marked Low Pressure Area over south coastal Odisha & neighborhood and thence southeastwards to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” the IMD stated. As per the Met Department, during the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi, and Bolangir. Similarly, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, G a j a p a t i , R a y a g a d a , Ko r a p u t, Ma l k a n g iri, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur and Sonepur.
