Govt distributes 17cr DMF Scholarship

Keonjhar, Sept 2: The K e o n j h a r d i s t r i c t administration on Friday held a scholarship distribution ceremony where it handed over the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) HSC Scholarship to the students of Government/Aided High Schools and Odisha Model Schools who had achieved 60 percent or higher in the Class X exam. DMF this year awarded scholarships worth Rs 17 crore to a total of 11,605 students. Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority, Subroto Bagchi, who graced the occasion as the chief guest at the ceremony, shared the story of his life and motivated the students present there. Bagchi also praised the district administration for utilizing the funds available under DMF to provide scholarships to meritorious students. “Using the funds available under DMF, the district is paving a path for excellence f o r t h e st u d e n ts i n Keonjhar”. Bagchi said while addressing the
students. This year, 228 students in the district received more than 90 percent (A1 grade) and 1997 students received more than 80 percent (A2 grade) in the BSE Class X exam. Jyoti Prakash Sahoo from Ka l y a n i BP S c h o o l , G a r a h a b a n d h o g o d a , Ghasipur has secured the highest marks (98.17%) in Keonjhar while Shardha Juanga from Chandragiri High School, Badapalaspal has secured 78.67% and is the topper among the tribal students. The initiative that is in line with the National Education Policy, 2019 had awarded 7698 meritorious students with scholarships worth Rs 10.48 in 2020 and 2021. The initiative is aimed to i n s p i r e st u d e n ts t o successfully complete their schooling and support them financially to pursue higher studies beyond the Class X level.
