Chandigarh : Keeping in view the problems of single parents, the Punjab school education department has issued instructions to enroll their children in schools without any hindrance.
Stating this here on Wednesday, a spokesperson of the department said that at present the names of both the mother and father of the child is required to be filled on the admission form. As a result, single parents are finding it difficult to enroll their children in schools.
Due to this, the director school education (senior secondary) has issued a letter to the district education officers and school heads in this regard.
All heads of government, government-aided, aided and unaided schools have been directed not to deny admission to the children of parents living alone for any reason, he added.
