Hanoi,Vietnam has detected its first case of Omicron variant of Covid-19 in a quarantine facility of Hanoi, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The patient arrived in the capital city on December 19 from Britain and tested positive for Covid. He was immediately transferred to a quarantine center under a hospital and his sample was sent for genome sequencing test. The result confirmed that he had the Omicron variant.
By Monday, Vietnam had confirmed a total of 1,666,545 Covid-19 infections, the Ministry said.
