The BSE Sensex on Tuesday surged 220 points at 57,814.02 in opening session on renewed buying in FMCG, Finance, Health Care and Telecom stocks. The Nifty too rose 71.30 points at 17,293.30. The Sensex registered days high and low at 57,934.15 and 57,726.28 points respectively. The Nifty registered days high and low at 17,322.25 and 17,260.85 points respectively. The Mid Cap moved up 0.74 per cent and Small Cap by 0.60 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined. The gainers were Ultracemco by 2.55 per cent to Rs 6518.20, HDFC by 2.14 per cent to Rs 2316.20, Bharti Airtel by 1.93 per cent to Rs 747.50, Dr Reddy’s Lab by 1.17 per cent to Rs 4331.55 and Asian Paints by 1.12 per cent to Rs 3060.72. The losers were ITC by 0.74 per cent to Rs 255.30, Tata Steel by 0.34 per cent to Rs 1334.45, Axis Bank by 0.18 per cent to Rs 734.95 and NTPC by 0.11 per cent to Rs 134.65.
