President to visit Kanpur today for 3 days

Kanpur : The city of Kanpur has turned into a fortress and security personnel have been deployed at every nook and corner on the proposed visit of President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday late evening.

President is coming to Kanpur after exactly 18 months and will stay in Kanpur for three days.

President will reach Kanpur Central Station by Presidential Express at 1930 hrs after commencing his journey at 1330 hours from Safdarjung railway station in Delhi. President will be received here by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

UP police and railways have made elaborate security at Kanpur Central and other stations along with tracks on which the Presidential Express train will pass.

It would be after a gap of 15 years that an incumbent President will make a train journey.

The last time a President travelled by train was in 2006 when Dr APJ Abdul Kalam boarded a special train from Delhi to Dehradun to attend a passing out parade of cadets at the Indian Military Academy (IMA).

According to officials, the President and the Governor will go to the Circuit House, while the Chief Minister will return to Lucknow.

During this stay, President will also visit his native village Paraunkh in Kanpur Dehat district on June 27.

The President’s special train will stop for 15 minutes each at Jhinjhak and Rura railway stations in his home district while coming to Kanpur, where he will meet some family members and friends. After this, the President will reach directly to Kanpur.

The President has a full day reserve on June 26 when he will meet around 50 dignitaries and other people.

On June 27, the President will reach his native village Paraunkh by helicopter at 0900 hrs where he will participate in different programs. Along with this, he will also meet family members, friends, public representatives and villagers.

By around 1800 hrs, the President will return back from Paraunkh village and will again reach the Circuit House in Kanpur where he will have a night stay.

On June 28 at 1000 hrs, the special train will leave for Lucknow from Kanpur Central station.

President will stay at Rajbhawan in Lucknow and will return back to New Delhi by special flight on June 29.

In Lucknow, the President has no special function to attend except meeting people and dignitaries in the Rajbhawan.
