Odisha reports 7002 new COVID cases

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid cases in Odisha further reduced to 7002 in the past 24 hours pushing the total covid tally in the state to 8,13,018.

During the last 24 hours as many as 42 covid patients succumbed to the virus taking the total fatalities to 2944.
Sources said the total recoveries surged to 7,32,018 with 7616 covid patients being cured on Saturday.

The active cases witnessed a further dip and stood at 78,031.As many as 18 districts in the state reported less than 2500 active cases of which six have less than 1000 cases .The rest 12 districts have registered more than 2500 active cases.

The state recorded 6.67 percent positivity as till date out of ,1,21,83,116 tests conducted in the state , 8,13,096 were found infected with coronavirus.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of fresh 7002 cases reported from all the 30 districts in the state in the past 24 hours,3921 were registered from the quarantine centres and 3081 are local contact cases.

Sources said at least 13 districts have reported new cases ranging from 100 to 300 in the past 24 hours and nine districts have less than 100 cases while six districts have more than 300 cases.

Khordha district reported the highest number of 1167 new cases followed by Cuttack ( 771),Jajpur ( 486), Angul( 388),Mayurbhanj( 370) and Balasore ( 331).

Out of 42 deaths reported from 20 disticts in the last 24 hours, Angul, Khordha and Cuttack districts reported each four deaths followed by three in Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Boudh disticts.

While five districts reported two each deaths, one each passed away in eight other districts.
