Odisha reports 3650 new covid cases,44 fatalities in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : The covid tally in Odisha today surged to 8,90,596 with the detection of 3650 new cases while the covid toll rose to 3761 as 44 more succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 3650 new cases,2098 were reported from the quarantine centres and 1552 as local contact cases.

Four districts such as Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur and Balasore have been reporting comparatively more positive cases than the other districts in the state.

Khordha remained at the top with 604 cases followed by Cuttack ( 485), Jajpur (332) and Balasore(278).

Sources said of the 44 fatalities reported in the state in the past 24 hours, Khordha district accounted for a maximum number of nine deaths followed by five each in Bargarh and Cuttack and four each in Puri and Angul. Three each have succumbed to the virus in Sundargarh, Kendrapara and Ganjam district.

At least 4052 people were recovered on Wednesday taking the total recoveries to 8,53,012 while the active cases further declined to 33,770.

Health and Welfare department sources said till June 22 as many as 1,03,18,120 doses have been administered in the state.They included 83,92,026 first doses and 19,26,094 as second doses.

As many as 19 districts in the state now have Test Positivity Rate below five per cent while five districts have above 5 per cent but below 7.5 per cent and six districts recorded more than 7.5 per cent.

Puri district reported the highest TPR of 12 per cent while Khordha district has second-highest TPR 10.1 per cent.
