Odisha records 549 covid 19 cases in past 24 hours, tally rises to 10,39.818

Bhubaneswar : After a gap of four days, the daily covid load in Odisha again jumped 500 mark as 549 new positive cases were recorded in the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 10,39,818.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said 318 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 181 as local contacts from 23 districts in the state during the last 24 hours.

They included 70 cases in the age group of 0 to 18 years, registering 12.7 percent of the total cases. Khordha district alone accounted for 296 cases contributing nearly 54 percent.

However, seven districts have reported no positive case in the past 24 hours.Next to Khordha another coastal district Cuttack recorded 50 cases,the second highest in the state.

The daily test positivity rate in the past 24 hours stood at 0.76 percent as out of 72091 tests conducted in the state 549 tested positive.

Four districts such as Khordha,Deogarh,Cuttack and Nuapada have recorded test positivity rate more than one percent, the highest being 2.2 percent reported from Khordha followed by depgarh ( 1.5), Cuttack( 1.3 ) and Nuapada ( 1.1). The other 26 districts have registered test positivity rates less than one percent.

The active cases further declined to 4673 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 2305 cases, about 49.3 percent of the total active cases in the state.

Sources said on Tuesday 497 patients were recovered from the virus taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,26,774 ,registering 98.74 percent of the total cases reported in the state so far.

The covid death rose to 8318, about 0.79 percent of the total tally as two more deaths, one each from Keonjhar and Angul district were reported during the health audit.
