Bhubaneswar, Apr 7 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to launch a 10-day special drive across the state to ensure that Covid 19 protocols are strictly followed by the people.
Reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the State through video conferencing, Mr.Patnaik asked the DGP to deploy police personnel in large numbers for the strict enforcement of the Covid 19 norms.
Mr Patnaik directed to reactivate the covid management in the grass root level. He advised officials to initiate steps to create confidence in the minds of the people.
The Chief Minister directed to keep vigil on districts bordering Chhatisgarh,focus on Western Odisha where the covid positive cases are high due to the proximity of the districts to Chhattisgarh.
He asked the Chief Secretary, ACS Health and Family Welfare and Senior officials to visit the region and take suitable action.
The Chief Minister directed the Health and Family Welfare department to assess the situation in Western Odisha districts and strengthen the Human Resource’s by appointing doctors, paramedics, and lab technicians in hospitals as per the requirement.
Adequate ambulances with oxygen supply should be deployed in the highly affected areas and proper monitoring systems be put in place to ensure that any emergency call is addressed timely and with a sense of urgency and sensitivity.
There should be no complaints about non-responsiveness of ambulances or lack of beds in the hospitals,” Mr.Patnaik said.
The Information and Public Relations department was asked to undertake a massive public awareness campaign to sensitise people about hand washing, wearing masks and for maintaining social distancing.
The District Collectors were directed to take steps immediately to rope in people of all categories particularly the panchayat representatives, Mission Shakti groups and undertake programmes to fight the virus.
He directed to strengthen the system for the enforcement of the covid guidelines in office, educational institutions and business establishments
The Chief Minister appealed to the people to observe the covid guidelines strictly taking into consideration the seriousness of the situation and cooperate with the government in controlling the covid infection in the state.
