Odisha dispatches 153 tankers carrying 2879.082 MT life-saving gas to needy states

Bhubaneswar : Odisha has so far dispatched 153 tankers/containers carrying 2879.082 Metric Tonnes (MT) medical oxygen with police escorts to several needy states in the country.

These tankers were escorted mostly from Rourkela, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts by Odisha Police.

Sources said as many as 21 tankers were dispatched from Angul with 342.82 MT, 28 from Dhenkanal with 453.7 MT, 43 from Jajpur with 895.66 MT and 61 from Rourkela with 1186.902 MT.

Total 49 tankers with 1035.36 MT of oxygen were sent to Andhra Pradesh, 41 tankers with 702.439 MT of oxygen were dispatched to Telangana.

Tamil Nadu has received three tankers filled with 53.46 MT of medical oxygen while Haryana got 13 tankers filled with 297.662 MT of O2.

Six tankers with 112.06 MT of oxygen were sent to Maharashtra, while 121.321 MT of oxygen filled in 8 tankers have left for Chhattisgarh.

As many as 13 tankers have carried around 238.43 MT of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh and 20 tankers with 318.35 MT of oxygen were sent to Madhya Pradesh in last 08 days.

A Special Cell has been formed under ADG ( Law and Order) Y K Jethwa as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to states facing deficit.

A Dedicated Corridor has already been set up with round the clock monitoring. District SSPs/DCPs and Range DIG/IG/CP are supervising the movement within their jurisdictions.

Mr. Jethwa said Odisha Police is committed to ensure that there is no delay in loading and transporting so as to promptly serve thousands of needy patients in UP, MP, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and other needy states.
