Odisha Covid Positivity Rate over 5 Percent

Bhubaneswar: After surpassing the 1000 mark for two consecutive days, the daily Covid load in Odisha dipped to 872. taking the cumulative tally in the state to 12,99,112, state Health and Family Welfare department sources said on Sunday. The covid positive cases which went up to1043 on July 14 and further jumped to 1065 on July 15, have declined to 872 in the past 24 hours. Out of 872 new infections recorded in 28 of the total 30 districts in the state, 512 were recorded from the quarantine centres and 360 as local contact cases. For the second consecutive day, over 100 covid positive cases were reported in the age group of 0 to18 years. Khordha district registered 282 new cases, the highest in the state followed by Sundargarh (144), Cuttack (96) and Myurbhanj (59). The number of active cases
further jumped to 5696 which included as high as 2014 from Khordha district alone followed by Cuttack ( 848), Sundargarh (618) and Puri (218). As many as 512 covid patients were cured during the period, taking the total recoveries in the state so far to 12,84,235. The Test Positive Rate (TPR) of the state continued to remain above rive percent, more than the national average. Khordha and Sambalpur districts recorded TPR above 7.5 percent to remain in the Red Zone while Puri, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh were declared as yellow zones for registering TPR above five percent. In view of rising covid positive cases in the state’s capital city
during the last fortnight, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a circular asking the citizens residing in the municipal areas to use masks in the public places. The BMC also asked the mall owners, shopping complexes and offices, both government and private, not to allow anybody to enter their premises without wearing masks.
