Odisha Congress Working President Pradeep Majhi resigns

Bhubaneswar : Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee Working President and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party.

In a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Mr Majhi said ‘’ with profound respect and obedience I beg to state with extreme sadness and pain that I have decided to resign from the primary membership of Indian National Congress.’’.

Mr Majhi said ‘’ I am painfully quitting the party for which I may kindly be excused. I shall, however, perform my duties as per your ideology and serve the people with utmost satisfaction’’.

The former Congress MP said he had joined the national congress party with utmost enthusiasm with a view to serve the needy people.

The party, he said, had also provided ample opportunity and placed him at the top of others without any demand from his side and ‘’ I enjoyed the respective position and gained love and favour of the general public”.

In his letter to Sonia Gandhi he said the organisation of the party was extremely well managed by ‘’ your dynamic leadership which gradually declined due to recalcitrant persons occupying the pivot posts at different levels and now the party has almost lost its credibility which may take a long time to revive.

Mr Majhi has also sent the copy of his resignation letter to Mr Rahul Gandhi, Mr Chella Kumar, party in charge of Odisha, state party president Niranjan Patnaik and AICC Secretary Rudra Raju.

The Congress leader had in the past held the posts of President of Odisha Youth Congress, secretary of the India Youth Congress and was the president of the Zilla Parishad.

Political pundits said Mr Majhi had taken the decision to quit Congress sometimes back to join the BJD but he had dismissed it stating that these are only speculation.
