No Action On RDC Inquiry Reports Since Three Decades

Bhubaneswar : Odisha government had ordered as many as sixteen administrative probes by Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Northern Division in the past three decades. However the State government is yet to initiate action on the recommendations made by the RDC-headed inquiries, revealed a RTI query.

Since 1990 till 2016, the RDC, northern division had conducted inquiries into sixteen cases relating mostly to law and order issues in western Odisha on directions given by the government. The RDC probe had promptly conducted the probe and furnished the fact finding reports to the government within a year. However the government sat over the report and failed to implement the recommendations made in the reports, said Pradip Pradhan, RTI activist from Odisha Soochana Adhikara Abhijana.

The inquiry report into leakage of Chlorine gas at Sambalpur Railway colony that began in 2005 was submitted a year after by the then RDC. The RDC probe report into the incident of firing by the private security guards of WESCO on the students of VSS Medical College, Burla in 2002 was furnished within six months. But the higher-ups in the government were marked by inaction to implement the valued recommendation of the probe by RDC probe. Fourteen other RDC-headed inquiries also met the same fate with the reports gathering dust, Pradhan added.
