Kolhapur announces strict lockdown for 10 days

Kolhapur : Kolhapur administration on Tuesday announced a strict lockdown from tomorrow 1100 hours in the morning in the district on the backdrop of rapidly increasing corona positive patients in the district.

An urgent online meeting was held this morning to discuss the COVID surge, lack of oxygen and Remdesivir injections.

The meet was attended by state rural development minister Hasan Mushrif, district guardian minister Satej Patil, minister of state for health Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar, collector Daulat Desai, among others.

Mr Patil said, ‘Now the need of oxygen was increased and if the positive patients increased more then present oxygen supply would fall short in the district and with considering this we should impose strictly lockdown in the district to check the rapidly increasing corona positive patients’.

Mr Mushrif said that even the Supreme Court has suggested option of lockdown and appealed to the peoples to observe ten days lockdown strictly from tomorrow morning (1100hrs) and help the district administration to stop rapidly increasing positive patients figure in the district.

Mr Patil-Yadravkar said that those who get the vaccination appointment are allowed to go and take the jab.

While giving detail information in the meeting collector Mr Desai said that at present total 2,400 positive patients were on oxygen while Sangli, Sindhudurg, Nipani and Belgaum are supplying oxygen to this district.

Additional collector tor Kishor Pawar, resident ccollector Bhau Garlanded, district supply officer Dattatraya Kavtike, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation commissioner Ms Kadambari Balkavade and DSP Shilesh Balkavade were also present.
