New Delhi : India has confirmed 1,73,790 new cases of the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, with the total number of those infected reaching 27,729,247, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
The death toll from the disease has reached 322,512, with 3,617 new fatalities being recorded during the same period.
More than 25,17 million people have recovered in the country since the start of the outbreak. Also, the active caseload further declined to 22,28,724 with a drop of more than a lakh in the last 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate has increased to 90.80 per cent.
Also, the weekly positivity rate is currently at 9.84 per cent, daily at 8.36 per cent, less than 10 per cent for five consecutive days.
The number of new Covid-19 cases detected on Friday is the lowest since April 12. Maharashtra reported 1,022 new deaths while Tamil Nadu had 486. Tamil Nadu recorded over 31,000 new cases while Karnataka logged close to 23,000.
Meanwhile, with 30,62,747 people being inoculated since Friday, a total of 20,89,02,445 have been administered the shot so far.
