India aims to export 2 trillion dollars by 2028: Anupriya Patel

Lucknow : Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel has said that in this financial year 2020-2021, the target of merchandise export of the Government of India is 400 billion dollars which by 2027-2028, will increase to 2 trillion dollars.

Of this two trillion dollars — one trillion dollars will be contributed by merchandise exports, and one trillion dollars will be contributed by service exports she said.

Addressing a function to commemorate the celebration of 75 years of India Independence under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ here on Tuesday , she said that for the financial year 2020-21, the outstanding export incentive amount of more than Rs. 56,000 crore has been released by the Government of India. She appealed to the exporters to apply/claim before December 31, 2021 to get this amount.

Ms Patel said that it is the result of Prime Minister’s self-reliant India, Local for Vocal, Make in India that India’s exports increased even in the odd times of Covid-19, which is a matter of pride in itself. Giving information about the IMF figures, the Union Minister said that India’s global economy will grow at the rate of 6 percent in the coming financial year and global merchandise will increase to 8 percent in 2021.

She said that despite the Corona, India’s exports have increased by 67 percent within the last five months. The cpubtry’s exports within the first five months last year were $ 98 billion, which has increased to $ 164 billion this year.

She said that despite the epidemic in Uttar Pradesh also, there was no reduction in exports. Before 2017, the export of Uttar Pradesh used to be Rs 84,000 crore, which has increased to Rs 1,21,000 crore in the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Ms Patel said the One District, One Product Scheme(ODOP) of Uttar Pradesh is playing a very commendable role in exports. She said that Uttar Pradesh is at number five with the rate of 5.6 percent in exports in the country. 80 percent of the state’s export credit goes to the ODOP scheme, she added.

The union minister said that India’s product and export power will be reflected in the Dubai Expo, which will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 1, 2022, and India will actively participate in it.

“The world will see the quality of Lucknow’s Chikankari and Bhadohi carpets,” she added.
