New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday flagged off 90 Basic Care Ambulances for the States / Union Territories.
These ambulances house basic life-saving support system and play a crucial role in stabilising the critically injured person.
As per Road Accident Statistics, 415 deaths per day in India, about 40 per cent lives can be saved if immediate and basic medical treatment received during Golden hour period.
Mr Gadkari said that these ambulances have been purchased by NHIDCL – National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, working under his ministry.
The cost of 90 such ambulances is Rs 18.63 crore and the vehiclaes have been manufactured by Tata Motors.
The states and UTs that were provided with such ambulances are Andaman – Nicobar Island, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu – Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim Tripura and Uttarakhand on Wednesday , April 7, 2021 in New Delhi.
