Central govt provides financial aid to family of deceased TV journalist Pandurang Raikar

Aurangabad : The family of deceased TV journalist Pandurang Raikar has received financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the Central Government.

It may noted that Mr Raikar who was working for leading Marathi news channel was succumbed due Covid after non availability of beds in the hospital last year in Pune.

Marathi Patrakar Parishad (MPP) chief trustee S M Deshmukh in a statement on Sunday announced to provide Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the journalists who died due to coronavirus through the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Although the central government has given Rs 5 lakh to the Raikar family, the state government has not given any help to the his family despite repeated promises and has expressed strong displeasure about this.

He has appealed to the families of the 136 journalists who have fallen victim to COVID-19 in the state to reach out to central Government for help and also urged the journalist bodies to extend their help to the deceased families, Mr Deshmukh added.
