BJP observes 12-hour Bolangir bandh,demands CBI probe ,arrest of Odisha Minister of state Home in Mamita Meher murder case

Bhubaneswar : The 12 hour dawn to dusk Bolangir bandh called by the BJP demanding CBI probe into the sensational murder of school teacher Mamita Meher and arrest of Odisha Minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra paralysed normal life in the district today.

The BJP had called Kalahandi bandh on Wednesday on similar ground and the bandh crippled the normal life in the district

Reports reaching here said the bandh was today more visible in Bolangir, Kantabanji, Titlagarh and Patnagarh where shops, business establishments were closed and vehicles were off the road.Educational institutions and offices were also closed in the district.

The BJP activists have blocked the Bolangir-Kantabanji road and staged demonstrations at various places demanding removal of Minister of state Home Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and his arrest in the murder case.

The police have already arrested prime accused Gobind Sahu, the president of the managing Committee of Sunshine English medium school at Mahaling in Kalahandi district where Mamita was serving as teacher

Gobind has already confessed to the crime during the interrogation and stated that he had strangulated Mamita to death on October 8 last and later burnt the body in the evening inside a pit in the stadium located closed to the school campus.

The Prime accused also confesses to the police that he murdered Mamita as she knew his extramarital affairs and threatened to expose them.

The Bolangir police have taken Gobind Sahu for five day remand to further interrogate and find out the involvement of any other in the crime.

The Police have also detained two others in connection with the case and interrogating them. Northern range DIG Deepak Kumar is camping at Bolangir and personally supervising and monitoring the case.

The Opposition Congress and BJP have launched series of demonstrations in various parts of the state demanding arrest and removal of Odisha Minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra and a CBI probe into the incident for a fair and impartial inquiry.

Mr.Mishra,the Opposition have alleged was very close to prime accused Gobind Sahu and was a frequent visitor to the school campus where the parents of Mamita Meher alleged that a sex racket was going on in a secret room located underground of the school building.

Meanwhile National Commissions for Women has taken cognizance of the gruesome murder and directed the Bolangir police to ensure an impartial investigation.The Commission also requested Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to remove the Minister of state for Home for a fair investigation into the case.
