Ban the web series ‘Bombay Begums’ promoting child pornography – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Pune : The web series ‘Bombay Begums’, which airs on OTT platform, Netflix, features offensive and objectionable scenes such as students viewing pornographic images at school, children consuming drugs and others Promoting child pornography through this web series is a form of promoting child abuse at a time when the incidence of sexual abuse and rape is on the rise in society, said Dr Uday Dhuri, spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Dr Dhuri has demanded that the Government take serious note of the matter and immediately ban the web series ‘Bombay Begums’ and also file a case against the producer and telecaster of the web series ‘Netflix’ for violating Article 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. For this, the committee has sent representation through e-mails to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil and the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights.

Alankruta Srivastava is the producer of the web series ‘Bombay Begums’ and actress Pooja Bhatt is in the lead role. The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has also written a letter to the Maharashtra Home Secretary and the Mumbai Police directing them to register an offence against the producers of the web series. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded that the government should take immediate action to curb the spread of child pornography, said dr Dhuri.
