Alert in UP after water released in Ganga from Uttarakhand

Lucknow : Early arrival of monsoon in Northern India triggered heavy rains in the hills and plains, the Ganges has come in spate after release of 3,75,000 cusecs of water from Haridwar at on Saturday morning.

Similarly, there is 1,30,000 cusecs of water on the Bijnor Ganga barrage. The water-level of Ganga is likely to rise further by evening. At the same time, the danger has increased in the coastal villages of the Ganges due to the rise of the Ganges in the western UP.

The administration and police have alerted the nearby villagers. The administration has instructed all the villagers to reach a safe place, officials here on Saturday said.

On the other hand, due to incessant rains in the catchment areas, all the rivers flowing through UP have started rising and have given a threat of floods in Purvanchal areas.

Wide spread rains were witnessed in the entire state during the past 24 hours and weatherman have predicted more rains in the next 48 hours in Purvanchal and western UP.
